After 6 minutes of learning, BabyBot detected novel faces and generalized to the schematic faces used in studies of infant face recognition.(Meltzoff). The robot has been able to improve its own abilities to learn and communicate with humans which proves that AI is getting more advanced and is getting better at being human. Machine learning studies show that systematically increasing a robot’s social-like behaviors and contingent responsivity elevates young children’s willingness to connect with and learn from it(Meltzoff). This is important because robots help children with their social skills by relating to them.
